Accountant Position Overview

This accounting role is seeking a skilled professional to handle tax returns, client bookkeeping, research, and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare Personal Tax Returns and Business Tax Returns for clients.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of client books, making necessary adjustments at year-end.
  • Identify and document M-1 Adjustments in the company's records.
  • Prepare uniform capitalization work papers and construction client work papers as needed.
  • Utilize engagement for tax trial balance preparation.
  • Communicate with clients regarding information or documents required for return completion.
  • Perform independent research to ensure accurate submission of returns.
  • Prepare tax projections and planning tasks for clients, including determining tax liability and salary requirements.
  • Handle correspondences with government agencies and participate in teleconferences as necessary.
  • Prepare payment plan paperwork, powers of attorney, S Election, SS-4, and state registrations.
  • Manage external bookkeeping tasks, adjusting balance sheets after-tax returns are completed, performing year-end adjustments, and providing QuickBooks support.
  • Review monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, updating payroll lists and ensuring timely completion of client work.
  • Prepare W-2s, W-3s, 1099s, and 1096s according to established procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications

A qualified candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Proficiency in tax and accounting software tools such as Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, CCH Access/ProFX Tax, Intelliconnect Tax Research, Intelliforms, Tax Tools, CFS Payroll, Practice Management Time Entry, Accounting Research, PFX Tax Planning, Proseries Tax Planner, and CCH Engagement External Bookkeeper.
  • Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
