Tax and Advisory Accountant | Direct Hire & Fully Remote Opportunity

We are seeking a seasoned accountant with expertise in Australian tax and advisory services. This role requires hands-on experience in managing client portfolios, preparing financial statements, and ensuring tax compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing client financial affairs and maintaining high-quality deliverables
  • Preparing year-end financial statements and tax returns for individuals and businesses
  • Managing BAS and IAS lodgments, payroll tax, FBT, Division 7A compliance, and liaising with the ATO to address any issues
  • Conducting tax research, providing strategic tax planning, and advising on business structuring
  • Assisting with onboarding new clients and facilitating smooth transitions

In addition to technical skills, this role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to clients and collaborate effectively within a remote team.

Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • Extensive 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Australian tax within an accounting firm, specializing in SMEs
  • Comprehensive understanding of Australian tax regulations and guidelines, with tax planning and client-facing experience considered a strong advantage
  • Experience or interest in management reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking; familiarity with Fathom or similar tools is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software is required
