About the Role

The Chief Steward is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel kitchen, ensuring a safe environment for guests.

This includes supervising staff in various tasks such as receiving and storing kitchen goods, cleaning and storing equipment, and maintaining premises cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to local health, safety, and compliance regulations
  • Conduct shift briefings to ensure operational requirements are met
  • Oversee preparation of kitchen equipment
  • Supervise receiving and storage of kitchen goods
  • Ensure floors are swept and mopped, and spills are cleaned immediately
  • Check cleanliness of walls, tables, racks, sinks, floor mats, and disposal area
  • Check cleanliness of ovens, hoods, filters, drains, hot boxes, steam tables, flat boxes, and ceiling vents
Requirements
  • Entry-level position with ability to learn quickly

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a fast-paced kitchen environment with regular exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

May be required to work overtime during peak periods.
