Accounting Manager Role

In this position, you will oversee various accounting operations and develop policies and procedures. This includes managing daily tasks, overseeing month-end closes, and working with clients across different industries.

You will have direct responsibility for close processes and interact regularly with clients. Collaboration with finance leaders is expected, providing oversight and guidance within the team.

This role also offers opportunities for growth and development, with exposure to additional areas of responsibility such as People Operations and FP&A.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vendor Management and AP:
    • Review invoices for accuracy and provide guidance to staff.
    • Paying invoices after client approval is required.
    • Quarterly 1099 checks must be managed.
  • AR and Cash Management:
    • Oversee AR Cycle.
    • Weekly cash flow forecasts must be reviewed and communicated changes/differences.
    • Cash flow monitoring and making recommendations to the client are essential.
  • Daily Bookkeeping:
    • Manage weekly transaction cycles.
    • Data room organization and maintenance are necessary.
  • People:
    • Support staff transitioning on clients must be facilitated.
    • Payroll processing review and approval according to the client's payroll schedule(s) is required.
  • Month End Close:
    • Bank and credit card reconciliations must be reviewed.
    • Leading month end close procedures in accordance with the month end close checklist, ensuring all deadlines are met, is crucial.
    • Monthly balance sheet schedules and disposition discrepancies or balances must be reviewed, and necessary adjusting entries advised.
    • Investigate variances and make journal entry corrections as needed.
    • Perform month-over-month flux analysis and document findings.
    • Draft a monthly reporting package for the Client Lead.
  • Compliance:
    • Compliance filings such as licensing and corporate insurance must be reviewed.
    • Assist accountants with annual tax returns and audits preparation.
    • Year-end 1099 filings management is required.
  • Communication and Team:
    • Cross-functional work with the organization to support ad-hoc requests is necessary.
    • Thoughtful, timely, and proactive communication with clients and team members is required.
    • Accounting inboxes management and responding to escalated inquiries where needed is essential.
