Revenue Accountant Job Description

The revenue accounting team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. This position manages the operational and technical aspects of revenue recognition, including reviewing customer contracts, performing revenue allocations, maintaining revenue schedules, and supporting monthly and quarterly closes.

  • This role helps build scalable processes as the business grows globally.
  • The ideal candidate will bring solid accounting experience, keen attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  1. Assist in monthly revenue accounting close activities by preparing journal entries and performing key account reconciliations, including those related to revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled receivables.
  2. Assist with revenue reporting and analysis by monitoring customer usage.
  3. Review standard and non-standard contracts to determine the appropriate revenue recognition under U.S. GAAP, ensuring ASC 606 compliance.
  4. Assist in the order-to-cash process, reviewing submitted sales orders to ensure proper revenue recognition and compliance.
  5. Manage and maintain NetSuite ARM to ensure accurate and compliant revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606, including data validation, reconciliations, and data flows.
  6. Work cross-functionally to drive automation efforts to streamline revenue accounting operations and improve monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
  7. Collaborate with sales, customer success, revenue operations, and FP&A to obtain data and reporting for monthly revenue entries.
  8. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve internal process documentation for clarity and efficiency across teams.
  9. Perform special technical projects, analysis, and ad hoc reporting.
  10. Play a key role in the company financial audit, preparing and reviewing revenue-related schedules for external auditors.
