Job Overview

The Functional Architect role is a senior Workday expert responsible for providing strategic leadership in solution design, implementation delivery, and sales process guidance.

This position requires collaboration across teams to deliver scalable, fit-for-purpose solutions aligned with client goals. The individual will lead functional workstreams, ensuring the overall functional integrity of the solution and positioning clients for long-term success.

Broad Workday product knowledge and deep implementation expertise are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with pursuit and sales teams to provide expert solution guidance and contribute to RFPs/RFIs.
  • Develop effort and budgetary estimations aligning to customer asks.
  • Ensure continuity of design intent and solution integrity during transition from sales to delivery.
  • Provide quality assurance oversight and thought leadership on in-flight implementations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to ensure cohesive and aligned solution delivery.
  • Lead end-to-end functional solution design across the full project lifecycle.
  • Provide functional leadership on multiple concurrent Workday implementations.
  • Drive key client sessions to ensure robust solution design and client alignment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of actual implementation experience.
  • Strong Workday implementation experience and end-to-end implementation experience with HR, Financial, or Student Information Systems required.
  • Ability to work in diverse, fast-paced environments and effectively collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to executive staff and sponsors.
