Job Description:

Network Engineer

Five9 is a leading provider of cloud contact center software, bringing the power of cloud innovation to customers worldwide.

As a Network Engineer at Five9, you will be responsible for maintaining IP Networking components in a production setting. Your tasks will include assisting customers and field personnel in network activations, participating in projects for Network Operation improvements, reviewing and analyzing history of network related incidents, performing preventive measures, troubleshooting network related issues, communicating with customers, implementing best security practices, managing network service providers and equipment, providing capacity analysis and planning.

  • Interact with external customers regularly to ensure smooth network activations and to troubleshoot any network connectivity related issues; may require some travel to customer site for escalated issues (10% or less)
  • Partner closely with Network Architects and Engineers to improve data-center and corporate network environments
  • Initiate multiple projects for Network Operation improvements
  • Partner with internal business units to best understand the organization's needs and continuously improve and apply standards for operational excellence
  • Review, analyze and execute network change requests

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Medium to large networks, IP Routing, Switching, and Security principles
  • Demonstrate knowledge of platform operating systems (router platforms, LAN, WAN, and router protocols) MPLS, OSPF, and BGP, and how they interact with the network
  • Demonstrated operational success with an exceptionally strong data-driven analytical approach towards solving complex challenges
  • Telecommunications experience - VoIP, RTP, SIP peering/trunking and SBC is a huge plus
  • Experience with implementations of solutions involving large data centers, interoffice routing plans, site2site VPNs, FWs, IPSec, monitoring, etc. is a plus
  • Hands-on skills for Cisco IOS is required, IOS-XR and Nexus OS is preferred, connect lab equipment, proof of concept; documenting solutions with diagrams and proper description is required
  • Knowledge and experience in Cisco Nexus 9k/7k/5k/2k, Palo Alto Network firewalls, ASR 1000 and 9000 Routers, Catalyst Switches and Routers, SSL-VPN
  • Experience with incident response, information assurance, computer security best practices, system hardening, vulnerability management, antivirus, SIEM, firewalls, IPS/IDS monitoring, and techniques for analyzing TCP/IP network traffic and event logs
  • Knowledge of Linux network functions; Saas/Cloud-based software environment a plus, but not required
  • Excellent communications, both oral and written
