The position of Medical Billing Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the financial sustainability of healthcare organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and addressing claim denials, recovering aging or stale claims, and streamlining revenue cycle operations.
Duties and Responsibilities- Utilize client billing systems to review and manage denied or aging claims, pinpointing root causes and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Analyze claim queues to identify recurring denial trends and submit relevant documentation or corrections.
- Make outbound phone calls to insurance payers to verify claim statuses, negotiate resolutions, and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Elevate system/process bottlenecks and emerging issues to the RCM lead for prompt resolution.
- Maintain detailed records of all payer interactions and claim activities.
- 1-3 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or claims follow-up, with a proven track record of success.
- Proficiency in payer portals and billing systems (e.g., Kareo, Athena, AdvancedMD, etc.).
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently on repetitive or process-heavy tasks.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English.
