Job Description:
The Head of Accounts Payable will oversee and manage the accounts payable (AP) operations
for a large, high-volume retail household company. This role is responsible for ensuring the
accurate and timely processing of a large number of supplier invoices and payments while
optimizing AP workflows, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance
with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience managing AP functions in a
fast-paced retail environment with a focus on automation, cost control, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership & Strategy:
    Lead and manage the AP department, ensuring smooth and efficient processing of high-
    volume transactions.
    Develop and implement AP policies, procedures, and best practices tailored for the retail
    industry.
    Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing AP team, fostering a culture of efficiency and
    accountability.
    Collaborate with senior finance leadership to align AP operations with overall financial and
    business objectives.
  2. Accounts Payable Operations:
    Oversee the end-to-end AP process, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and
    reconciliation.
    Ensure accurate and timely payments to suppliers, minimizing late fees and penalties.
    Manage AP aging reports, accruals, and month-end closing processes.
    Work closely with the procurement and supply chain teams to streamline purchasing and
    payment cycles.
    Implement best practices to handle high-volume transactions efficiently.
  3. Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
    Maintain and strengthen relationships with key suppliers and vendors, negotiating favorable
    payment terms.
    Resolve payment discrepancies, disputes, and supplier queries promptly.
    Collaborate with internal departments such as procurement, inventory, and finance to
    optimize vendor management.
  4. Compliance & Risk Management:
    Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and company policies.
    Implement and enforce internal controls to mitigate risks such as fraud, duplicate payments,
    and errors.
    Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting accounts payable and financial operations.
    Support internal and external audits, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
  5. Process Improvement:
    Identify inefficiencies in AP workflows to improve speed and accuracy.
    Monitor AP key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvement
    strategies.
    Optimize payment methods to improve cash flow management.
