Job Summary

The Adoption Merch Associate is responsible for supporting Biyaya Animal Care's adoption programs while managing and promoting merchandise sales that sustain the organization's animal welfare initiatives. This role combines compassionate advocacy for rescued animals with strong customer service, sales, and inventory management skills, ensuring a positive experience for adopters, clients, and the community.

Responsibilities
  • Adoption Support
    • Assist in coordinating adoption events and activities.
    • Educate potential adopters on adoption procedures, animal care requirements, and responsible pet ownership.
    • Screen and guide adopters through application processes if the adoption officer is unavailable.
    • Maintain and update records of pets available and adopted.
    • Represent Biyaya Animal Care with warmth and professionalism during events and in all client interactions.
  • Merchandising, Sales & Inventory
    • Manage merchandise displays at clinics, shops, and adoption events.
    • Promote and sell adoption-related merchandise (pet supplies, Biyaya items, accessories).
    • Monitor inventory levels, track stock movement, and conduct regular inventory counts.
    • Coordinate restocking and ordering of merchandise with Marketing Team.
    • Ensure proper pricing, labeling, and attractive presentation of merchandise.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and report discrepancies promptly.
    • Provide excellent customer service, upselling where appropriate.
  • Operations & Administration
    • Support marketing and social media campaigns for adoption and merchandise promotions.
    • Handle cash and digital payment transactions securely and accurately.
    • Prepare daily/weekly sales, adoption, and inventory reports.
    • Assist in maintaining orderliness and cleanliness of the adoption and merchandise areas.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • At least college level.
  • Previous experience in retail, sales, inventory, or customer service preferred.
  • Genuine compassion for animals and basic knowledge of pet care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
  • Flexible, willing to work weekends, holidays, and during off-site events.
