Instructional Designer

This role is accountable for the analysis of training content provided by business partners and for identifying outstanding questions and clarifications related to the learning objectives outlined in the training proposal. The curriculum designer is responsible for building web-based modules and for designing all instructor-led curricula to be vetted and signed off by the business before curriculum development begins. The authoring tools used for curriculum development require the designer to understand the best medium for delivery based on content and audience.

- Knowledge of learning principles such as Adult learning principles, ADDIE/4MAT, Accelerated Learning, Project life cycles
- Secondary Education
- College Diploma / University Degree with 2+ years of design experience
- Work Experience 4-6 years specifically in Facilitation
- Writing & Storyboarding experience
- Coding & Publishing on LMS
- Learning technologies
- Developing a collection of assets and templates
- Ensuring project work such as code and graphics are checked in on a daily basis
- Participate frequently in brainstorming sessions with team and working groups
- Support and foster skill development within the team
- Ability to work as a team towards a common goal/objective

- Identifying areas for improvement within the design structure
- Actively taking part in problem-solving meetings and consulting sessions on training requirements

- Ability to quickly familiarize themselves with new project content
- Ability to formulate key questions regarding content/design and work with SMEs to resolve
- Develop highly detailed WBT storyboards and ILT design layouts
- Creating videos
- Use knowledge and skills of Adult learning principles to create interactive and effective learning platforms based on the complexity of project content
- Ensure that all components of design align and support the program's learning objectives and program strategy
- Develop effective knowledge testing throughout programs using platforms such as quizzes, learning activities, decision-based scenarios and case studies
- Develop curriculum on time, on budget and inclusive of all content
- Strong knowledge and skills in design development using third-party authoring tools
- Solid understanding of which authoring tools support specific delivery methods
- Apply appropriate instructional design approaches to produce highly relevant, engaging and interactive content for each course/program in ILT or WBT
- Troubleshoot technical issues and determine solutions
- Publish content using a number of different file types
- Publish content and courses on Breeze server and LMS
- Test published links to ensure functionality and reporting

- Understand the agile methodology and experience creating learning content using agile approaches such as rapid learning content, agile learning design and successive approximation model
