We are a boutique law firm based in Monterey Park, California, seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Legal Assistant or Paralegal to support our attorneys in civil/business litigation and family law matters. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience and demonstrate strong legal knowledge, case management skills, and the ability to provide consistent and reliable support.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist attorneys in handling family law matters, including divorce, child custody, adoption, financial disclosures, and social service coordination.

Conduct client interviews related to domestic disputes, civil litigation, and family matters.

Draft legal documents, including pleadings, declarations, and discovery requests/responses.

Prepare evidence, legal arguments, and documentation for hearings and trials.

Research legal information and validate findings for accuracy and relevance.

Coordinate with clients, courts, and third-party professionals as needed.

Maintain accurate billing and time entries based on assigned cases.

Prepare written reports and legal correspondence for attorney review.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience in Family Law and/or Civil Litigation (Required).

Demonstrated experience working in or supporting California-based law firms (Preferred).

Strong understanding of case workflows, court procedures, and legal terminology.

Familiarity with billing practices and meeting billable hour requirements.

Proven track record of stable employment (minimum of 1 full year tenure per role preferred).

Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and handle confidential information with discretion.

Proficiency in legal software, document management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Fluency in Mandarin is a plus but not a requirement.

Candidates with frequent short-term employment (e.g., multiple roles under 6 months) will not be prioritized.

This is a critical role where attorneys rely heavily on consistent paralegal support; reliability and commitment are essential.
