Product Owner

Overview

Product Owner for CMS Platforms and Migrations. This role focuses on managing a future-proofed cards platform as the debit cards business grows, with emphasis on payments, regulatory compliance, and large-scale system migrations. Strong stakeholder management and deep understanding of payment schemes are required.

Responsibilities

• Own product design activities for the assigned CMS platform and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the business product strategy and market needs.
• Develop and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the CMS platform, in collaboration with the Debit Card Product Owner and Product Manager.
• Plan, execute, monitor, and direct CMS builds and enhancements; initiate and manage migrations where needed.
• Assess value, develop business cases with Product Managers, and prioritize stories, epics, and themes to maximize value aligned with product strategy.
• Drive experience reviews and comparative assessments to improve the debit card product experience for customers.
• Lead product design with cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Marketing) to include regulatory, commercial, and technical requirements.
• Prepare user stories and co-author Product Service Design documents to communicate requirements to Commercial and Technical Squads.
• Lead product-side efforts for migration of the existing card management system to a new CMS; map existing functionalities and leverage new capabilities.
• Oversee data migration strategies ensuring data integrity during the transition.
• Collaborate with technical teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth, timely CMS platform migration with minimal disruption.
• Manage product-related risks and issues during migration; act as liaison with major debit card schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard).
• Identify and evaluate new products, services, and integrations offered by card schemes to enhance the debit card portfolio or operational efficiency.
• Drive integration of scheme-specific features and compliance mandates into debit card products and systems; negotiate terms with card schemes when applicable.
• Coordinate with squads, tribes, platform management, and third-party vendors to ensure delivers are on spec and on time; manage resources and issue resolution.
• File and manage product backlog, defects, and enhancements; attend and co-drive scrum meetings for effective development of product features.
• Map high-level customer front-end and back-end experiences to aid product analysis and system integration.
• Ensure robust governance and compliance frameworks are embedded into all debit card products and processes.
• Provide regular updates to management to obtain needed support on critical matters.

Required Skills & Experience

• Product Management expertise in financial services with 5+ years in payment products.
• Experienced Product Owner in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban); backlog grooming, Tribe practices, product reviews, and testing.
• Deep knowledge of card product lifecycles, payment processing flows, and underlying technology.
• Strong understanding of major card schemes (Visa, Mastercard) rules and operational models.
• CMS experience with platforms such as Fiserv, TSYS, ACI, or BPC SmartVista; track record of CMS migrations.
• Regulatory and compliance knowledge (PCI DSS, consumer protection laws for debit cards).
• Project and program management skills for complex cross-functional initiatives.
• UX design principles to drive customer-centric product experiences.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities; data interpretation and trend analysis.
• Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management with internal teams and external partners.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience interfacing with card schemes and negotiating product-related terms.

Advantageous Skills

• Direct experience building and launching cards products.
• Fraud management systems knowledge and strategies for cards.
• Familiarity with digital payments trends, mobile wallets, and tokenization.
• Experience in regulated banking or EMI environments.
• PM/PMO certifications (e.g., CSPO, PMP) are a plus.

• CMS platform migration completed on time and within budget with minimal post-migration defects.
• System performance and stability targets met post-migration.
• No financial leakage or customer issues from incomplete mapping.
