We are seeking a qualified Captain/Master Mariner for Bulk Carrier; Supramax. APPLY & JOIN MARLOW TODAY #CareersAtSea ⚓ General Position Description The Master Mariner is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, navigation, management and maintenance of the vessel, and its crew, equipment, and cargo, as per company’s safety and quality policies, as well as industry standards/certifications. Reporting to the Flag administration, duly authorized Port Authorities, the vessel Owner, the Charterer, and the Management (Technical Superintendent, Maine Superintendent, DPA and CSO). Key Job Responsibilities Ensure the vessel is safely navigated and operated in accordance with STCW watch keeping standards. Fulfilling responsibilities bestowed by the Flag State as required and ensuring vessel compliance to applicable statutory and regulatory rules and requirements, classification and insurance requirements. Ensuring the vessel’s good and efficient working operations, including safety and efficient shipboard crew management. Liaise with company’s marine superintendents and other related staff for preparation of vessel for surveys and inspections to ensure validity of all certificates are well maintained. Ensuring the company and the principal’s policies, procedures, and standing orders in consideration of industry best practices. Ensuring team leadership, motivation, welfare, and adherence to safe working practices. Approving voyage plans, issuing navigational orders, and taking personal command, as necessary. Testing and maintenance of all on‑board safety equipment, whilst ensuring the emergency preparedness of crew. Controlling the vessel's external communication and the compliance with regulatory and company communication and reporting procedures. Ensuring compliance with all lawful instructions of duly authorized port authorities. Ensuring that shipboard training is carried out as required and as applicable with their rank and responsibilities for all the crewmembers on‑board. Qualifications, Experience & General Requirements of Employment Master Unlimited License in accordance with STCW 2010, Certificate of Competency and all additional documentation and certification required by IMO STCW, ITU, Flag State and company for the type, size and trade of relevant vessel. Special pre‑entry competency requirements References and experience accepted by the Technical Superintendent and the DPA, as sufficient for the assignment considering the vessel's type, trade and size. Good command of the English language, including technical terminology for the maritime sector. Decision making, social and leadership skills, especially in emergency situations, together with communication skills at all beneficial levels.
