Chief Operating Officer plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of the business unit’s operations covering sales, profitability, market growth, and cost control & Management. Accountable for all major operational decisions and for the preparation and attainment of the business unit’s annual budget for Sales & Profitability. Responsible for the management of the entire business unit in the following areas: Analyzes external and internal factors affecting the business and come up with a long‑term plan (5 years) with measures of success on a year‑to‑year basis. Develop, review, and recommend through Strategic Planning, the Annual Business Plan of the Company for ExCom approval. Develop the Annual Budget for the Company to include Annual Targets for Sales Volume and Gross Profit for approval of the EXCOM. Ensure that the Monthly Budget and Variance Review is conducted in order to monitor the business unit’s performance and take necessary corrective actions. Ensure that all Functional Heads within his business unit are competent, effective, and productive in managing their respective functional areas so as to achieve the annual budget. Conduct organizational reviews and implement changes in the organizational structure to ensure the growth and effectiveness of the business unit. Ensure that company policies and procedures are regularly reviewed, cascaded, and updated by the Functional Heads of the Company. Strategic Planning / Policy Making: Studies the current scenario of the business (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) and recommends general and specific strategies and targets. Analyzes external factors (market, competitors, government regulations, etc.) and recommends the direction and where to position the company. Installs progress or monitoring and evaluation system to measure and ensure the incremental achievement of the long‑term plan. In coordination with the Financial Comptroller, develops the annual business and operational budget for the business unit for approval by EXCOM. Informs the Chairman of strategic business development and key corporate planning issues and makes recommendations on major business growth plans and decisions. Keeps him informed about business activities, potential threats, opportunities, and recommended actions. Plans, develops and implements strategy for operational management and development so as to meet agreed organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales. Directs the development of the organization to ensure future growth. Determines proper resource allocation for each department and reviews organization structure to maximize effectiveness. As a member of the Executive Committee, reviews and approves company policies, programs and business strategies that affect the business unit. Operational Functions: Manages the day‑to‑day operations of the Company and ensures the effective performance of all functional units as follows: Sales – Ensures that the Annual Sales Plan is prepared accurately and on time and that the Annual sales, collection target, and Gross Profit (GP) targets are achieved. Together with the National Sales Head, monitors the Monthly Sales Performance of all Sales Managers, Sales Supervisors, and Sales Engineers and develops Sales Strategies to address shortfalls. Sales Support Services (SSD) – Through the SSD Head and the Installation Head, ensures that effective support is given to Sales in the areas of Estimating, Production Writing, Sales Contract Preparation, and management of Installation Projects with the end objective of achieving customer satisfaction. Marketing – In coordination with the Group Marketing Head, ensures the effective preparation and implementation of the Marketing Plan. Plant Management – Ensures that Quality of Products, Production Cost Budgets, Production Volume Targets, Prime Yield Targets, Roll Forming Machines Efficiency & Plant Safety targets are achieved by the Plant and other Production Facilities throughout the country. Inventory Management – Manages the inventory of Raw Materials and Finished Products of the Company, ensuring that these are kept within levels that would fulfill market needs yet not tie down the cash of the Company within the tolerable period of time. Finance Management – Responsible for the attainment of Company Profitability targets and for controlling all expenses within the approved Budget. Determines the financial need of the company through Cash Flow Analysis and ensures that appropriate fund sourcing and fund management are achieved. Ensures that Cost Reduction Programs are implemented by all Functional Heads under his management. Human Resource Management – with the Assistance of the Group HROD Head, ensures that all employees are competent and productive through organizational reviews and improvement, manpower training and culture building, and provision of support through personnel services. Manages all Functional Heads in the Company, and ensures that they perform their Job Descriptions and that they and all employees under them comply with Company Policies & Procedures. Asset Management – Through the Financial Comptroller, ensures that all company assets are accounted for through regular cycle counts, safeguarded through internal controls and insurances and that these are well maintained /disposed of in accordance with Policies & Procedures. Safety & Security Management – Ensures that Annual Safety & Security Programs are developed and implemented for the Safety & Security of all employees in the company. Job Qualifications: With at least twenty (20) years of experience in top management positions preferably as President or COO gained from the construction materials manufacturing industry. Proven track record in managing the profitability and cash flow of a profit center and in developing and growing the business Experienced in strategic planning and execution Experienced in formulating policies and in developing and implementing business strategies Experienced in the Management of Sales & Marketing and capable of developing and maintaining business contacts with Key Customers. Has a well‑established relationship across the industry including the Banking Community and the ability to attract a core team of executives to the organization Must be highly Analytical, Decisive, and with a strong Sense of Urgency.
