Job Description

The bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial transactions of the company with diverse business interests in both real estate and restaurant operations. This role requires a keen understanding of both property management finances and the fast-paced nature of the food service industry.

  • Record and reconcile rental income, security deposits, and property management fees.
  • Track lease agreements, tenant payments, and property maintenance expenses.
  • Prepare financial statements for multiple properties, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Handle property-related tax filings and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of property purchases, sales, and capital improvements.
  • Record daily sales, expenses, and inventory purchases.
  • Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) data with bank deposits and merchant accounts.
  • Process payroll for restaurant staff, including tips and overtime calculations.
  • Track food and beverage costs to ensure profitability.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly profit margins and cost reports.
  • Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control strategies.

General:

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for both business units.
  • Prepare and submit financial reports to management and external auditors.
  • Assist with tax preparation and compliance for both real estate and restaurant operations.
  • Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes.
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in real estate or hospitality.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel.
  • Understanding of property management and restaurant financial systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle a high volume of transactions.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper, AAT) is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with property management software and restaurant POS systems.
  • Knowledge of real estate and hospitality industry tax regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
