Manulife – Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines Fund Administration Manager Accountable to the Fund Administration Team in GBS, this role oversees the financial reporting process for John Hancock (JH) funds in the US region, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of regulatory reports such as financial statements and Tailored Shareholder reports as part of N-CSR filing. The position supports the Boston office and works to maintain a robust risk‑management framework, improve documentation, and optimize production processes. The role may also support ad‑hoc projects as assigned. Key Responsibilities Effectively manage the monthly production schedule, meeting all targets in accordance with the 40‑day initiative. Oversee and assist the business unit with scheduling and managing workflows for financial statements and tailored shareholder production. Prepare and review financial statements for John Hancock Funds, including statements of assets and liabilities, operations, changes in net assets, cash flows, financial highlights, and notes. Assist team members with the implementation of complex accounting or regulatory developments. Coordinate and/or perform centralized tasks required for report preparation and audit processes. Identify and implement improvement opportunities, streamlining end‑to‑end processes for Fund Reporting using Alteryx. Operational Support Own and ensure adequate controls, escalating and resolving issues promptly. Provide support and training to junior team members on knowledge, processes, and reporting requirements. Manage and drive initiatives to plan, implement, and track short‑term and automation projects. Resolve critical operational issues, proactively monitoring control efficacy to minimize risk. Support ad‑hoc analysis to identify root causes of production problems and develop timely solutions. Stakeholder Management Communicate effectively with global stakeholders, PMs, analysts, brokers, finance technology, compliance, and risk teams, establishing credibility with business unit contacts. Recommend opportunities to refine operational effectiveness of processes and controls. Escalate service issues received from customers and stakeholders. Communicate significant production updates and challenges to management and the business unit in a timely manner. Leadership / Management Lead the team to achieve its organizational goals and objectives. Perform people‑management responsibilities: performance management, professional growth, coaching, one‑to‑one meetings, and employee reviews. Ensure high engagement through sustainable activities and programs. Lead business reviews and produce dashboards and metrics reports detailing team performance, challenges, and improvement areas. Ensure all service level agreements and compliance standards are met. Improve team effectiveness by implementing, monitoring, and reviewing training policies and guidelines. Optimize resource utilization, aligning headcount and skillsets with business requirements. Recruit, onboard, and coordinate with support functions such as HR, IT and Finance. Special Projects Lead time‑critical projects requiring strong financial knowledge, analytical and organizational skills, and an innovative mindset. Projects may include the introduction of new services, products or processes. Required Qualifications Advanced knowledge of the mutual‑fund industry and mutual‑fund accounting. University degree in accounting, finance or economics. CPA, CFA, CISI or CAT passer preferred. 7+ years of progressive experience in financial services or shared‑services environments, with more than 3 years in a people‑manager role. Experience working with senior management teams, building relationships and influencing stakeholders. Understanding of the end‑to‑end production environment and the impact of changes to reporting processes and systems. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and influencing skills. Ability to stay updated on regulatory developments and risk‑management hot topics. Ability to work in an ambiguous environment, adapt to change, and manage competing deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across cultures; excellent English written and verbal communication. Proficiency with FundSuite Arc and Bloomberg Terminal. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas; VBA a plus) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Project. Ability to build business cases for process improvements, including cost‑benefit analysis. Flexibility for shift work and overtime to meet deadlines.
