The IT Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting the needs of stakeholders by investigating and clarifying their requests in order to determine underlying issues and causes. They act as the liaison between business and development teams for the purpose of aligning the designed and delivered solutions with the needs of stakeholders. Their activities include understanding enterprise problems and goals, analyzing needs and solutions, devising strategies, driving change, and facilitating stakeholder collaboration.

Overview

The IT Business Analyst elicits and models business requirements and user stories to describe business needs in a usable level of detail for stakeholders. They participate in Agile processes, facilitate stakeholder collaboration, and translate business needs into solutions that deliver value.

Position Responsibilities

• Elicit and model business requirements/user stories ; using appropriate analysis techniques, understand and describe the business needs in a structure and level of detail that is usable by the particular stakeholders.
• Deliver through Agile methodologies ; through experience with Agile tools (e.g. JIRA), participate in sprints and backlog grooming, and work with product owners for prioritization.
• Conduct business process re-engineering ; describe as-is and to-be processes while analyzing the impact on people, processes, and systems.
• Validate requirements against business objectives ; ensure requirements or designs deliver business value and support business objectives using Human Centred Design principles.
• Define business solution options ; identify, explore and describe non-technical options to achieve the business need.
• Analyze potential value and recommend solutions ; assess value and provide a recommendation to key stakeholders.
• Focus on the customers ; determine requirements and value from a customer perspective.
• Focus on quality ; ensure outputs are high quality and consistent using team templates, models and frameworks.
• Be involved in development ; serve as an escalation point for requirement queries and clarifications from design, build, and testing teams.
• Assist in testing ; review and assist in test strategy and acceptance criteria development and in-sprint testing to ensure delivered solutions meet expectations.
• Facilitate transition and change ; identify transition journey and change management activities to enable adoption of solutions.
• Work collaboratively ; with multi-cultural, multi-location, cross-functional teams.

The Senior BA has additional responsibility of being a subject matter expert and may lead teams, mentor associates, and contribute to the improvement of the BA community of practice.

• Act as a lead in your team of business analysts to ensure high quality outcomes within required timeframes
• Identify key streams of activity and allocate activities across the BA team
• Provide guidance and support to the team in task execution
• Collaborate with the project manager to support delivery and planning
• Provide added value to the business and act as a domain expert for a specific area
• Consult on feasibility and risks to project plans, solutions and implementations
• Challenge the business approach to ensure the best Minimum Marketable Product (MMP)
• Contribute to change management design and delivery
• Identify opportunities to enhance transformation capabilities in country businesses
• Identify new ways of working and bring external insights
• Improve practices and foster engagement within the BA community
• Coach and mentor juniors

Required Qualifications

• A degree, or equivalent, in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology or related disciplines
• Minimum 5 years of solid IT business analysis experience in Financial Services (products, administration or distribution), ideally with Life Insurance or Wealth Management knowledge
• Experience with AEM
• Experience in building digital products across multiple countries, preferably in a large multinational organization
• Practical experience in both Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills, strong communications at all business levels, with flexibility and judgment in a dynamic environment
• Excellent facilitation and influencing skills across a large organization
• Excellent organization and high attention to detail; ability to adapt to fast-paced environments
• Strong core BA competencies and interpersonal skills with drive for improvement

• Life Insurance experience
