Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Responsible for performing analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses and reporting test results according to the Quality Management System policies and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Performs sampling, testing, and analyses as defined in the Matrix of Laboratory Tests and Analyses, adhering to the QMS and Safety Policies outlined in the Safety Manual.
  • Prepares reagents and test solutions and standardizes volumetric solutions following standard test methods.
  • Participates in proficiency and correlation programs.
  • Operates and maintains equipment used in analyses.
  • Reads, understands, and follows standard operating procedures.
  • Analyzes and interprets laboratory test results, including statistical quality control charts and measurement uncertainties.
  • Prepares and updates reports related to analyses, including statistical quality control charts and measurement uncertainties for routine tests.
  • Signs worksheets and job instructions.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, including worksheets, log entries, and sample documentation.
  • Coaches lab analysts, technicians, aides, and OJTs on testing procedures and sample preparation.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly workplace.
  • Prepares purchase requests for laboratory supplies.
  • Requests cash advances with approval from the Laboratory Operations Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with group and national policies, including the QMS.
  • Operates in accordance with SGS Code of Integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Supports QHSEE policies and objectives, participates in related meetings and training, and responds to emergencies.
  • Disposes of waste safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Reports incidents, hazards, and near misses.
  • Uses equipment and property responsibly, reports damages, and maintains a clean work environment.
  • Participates in incident investigations and risk assessments.
  • Fulfills requirements of the QHSEE Management System.
  • Recognizes the importance of compliance and policy adherence to avoid potential consequences.

Qualifications

  • Education: A university or college degree in BS Chemistry, BS Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Agrichemistry, or related sciences is required.
