SMEC – Senior Structural Engineer Location: Mandaluyong, National Capital Region, Philippines Employment type: Contract Seniority level: Mid‑Senior level Responsibilities Be responsible for all structural design activities for the project, including quality control and design checks. Review project information, including previous design reports and feasibility studies. Plan, organize, and manage all structural designs and outputs as required. Provide competent structural engineering services, including field work (limited), analysis, design, and reporting. Analyze and design all structural elements from foundations to above‑ground works across materials: timber, masonry, concrete (reinforced and pre/post‑tensioned), and steel. Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to ensure client requirements are clearly identified and addressed. Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, rail) to ensure structures are fit for purpose, code compliant, and meet client requirements. Provide clear and concise design reports in accordance with client requirements. Review and check CAD and drafting outputs related to structural design. Certify under seal all structural engineering designs and drawings. Assist in preparation of specifications and bills of quantities as required. Qualifications Recognized engineering degree (civil or structural). Minimum 10 years of experience on commercial and industrial structural projects in the Philippines. Demonstrated experience in structural design across steel, concrete, masonry, timber, including seismic design. Experience leading and managing structural design teams on major infrastructure projects. Proficiency in structural analysis software (STAAD, MIDAS, ROBOT, etc.). Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to present designs to stakeholders for peer review and auditing. Good understanding of major project delivery methods. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Strong technical ability and independent work ethic, with capacity to prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to learn and work in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in MIDAS Civil, MIDAS GEN and STAAD software.
