Role & responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Serve as the most experienced clinician for complex cases in both outpatient (OPD) and inpatient (IPD) settings, labour wards, and operation theatres. Lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor juniors, and act as a visible role model.
  • Patient Care
    • Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of obstetric and gynaecological conditions, including emergencies and high-risk cases.
    • Perform and supervise all types of deliveries (normal and C-section), surgeries (laparoscopic, open), and procedures related to infertility, oncology, and minimally invasive interventions.
    • Oversee pre- and post-operative care, patient safety, and manage complications promptly.
    • Provide empathetic counseling, explain treatment options, and involve patients/families in shared decision-making.
  • Teamwork & Supervision: Guide and supervise junior doctors, nurses, and support staff. Conduct ward rounds, handovers, and participate in departmental audits and quality improvement.
  • Risk Management & Quality: Participate actively in risk assessment, root-cause analysis, and ensure compliance with medical standards and protocols. Promote a culture of safety, transparency, and continual learning.
  • Administrative & Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate and timely documentation in hospital information systems, participate in policy formation, clinical pathway audits, and hospital-wide initiatives.
  • Education & Research: Involve in continuous medical education, contribute to research and teaching activities for fellows, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Patient Advocacy: Act as an advocate for women\'s health, maintain ethical standards, and support patient-centered care.
Preferred candidate profile
  • Qualification: MS in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with DNB/MD/DGO.
  • Experience: Generally, 15 - 20 years of relevant post-graduate experience in a busy tertiary care setting or equivalent, with substantial independent practice in both obstetrics and gynecology, especially managing complications and emergencies.
  • Skills/Competencies:
    • Advanced clinical and surgical skills, up-to-date with latest practices and technologies in obstetrics and gynaecology.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
    • Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting junior staff.
    • Resourcefulness, ability to work under pressure, and openness to change.
    • Demonstrated compassion, integrity, and a patient-first approach.
  • Registration: Valid Delhi Medical Council registration.
