Job SummaryBanquet & Events Manager — JOB SUMMARY: this position is at Holiday Inn Mishawaka Conference Center. Responsible for preparing all event documentation and coordinating with Sales, property departments and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases of property events. This position primarily handles events of average complexity and ensures seamless turnover from sales to service back to sales. Recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements to create outstanding events.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED; experienced (1 – 2 years) in event management or related professional area
- 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; at least 1 year experience in the event management or related professional area required
Based on experience ($55,000 - $65,000) base salary. Associate is eligible for incentive and gratuity.
Responsibilities- Prepare all event documentation and coordinate with Sales, property departments and customers to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases
- Manage events of average complexity; ensure seamless turnover from sales to service back to sales
- Recognize opportunities to maximize revenue by up-selling and offering enhancements
- Manage Event Logistics and Operations
- Ensure events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy
- Greet customers during the event phase and hand-off to the Event Operations team for execution of details
- Adhere to all standards, policies, and procedures; ensure billing accuracy and conduct bill reviews with clients prior to final bill
- Manage group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized assigned groups
- Identify operational challenges and work with property staff and customers to solve them or develop alternatives
- Use judgment to integrate current trends in event management and event design
- Act as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout the event process
- Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
- Solicit feedback from property departments to identify areas for improvement
- Deliver and promote exceptional customer service; empower employees to do the same; set a positive example for guest relations
- Coordinate and communicate event details both verbally and in writing to the customer and property operations
- Maintain presence with the customer during the process; oversee the customer experience from file turnover through post-event turnover
- Follow up with customers post-event
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
