Join to apply for the Benefits Operations Analyst role at Citi. This is a trainee professional role requiring a good knowledge of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out tasks, with a basic understanding of underlying concepts and principles. You will work with the team to achieve objectives and resolve problems by applying acquired technical experience, guided by precedents. The role has a limited but direct impact on the business through the quality of the tasks/services provided.

Responsibilities
  • Sound knowledge of country corporate benefits and statutory benefits of Japan, including operational activities.
  • Administer Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit pension plans within the country.
  • Manage statutory benefits applicable in the country; handle processing related to salary benefits, corporate benefits, and allowances.
  • Handle Long Term Disability, Income Insurance processes: payment, cost allocation, and data preparation for vendors.
  • Prepare insurance premium calculations and subscriber data for vendors.
  • Manage Survivor Benefit Plan: budget PO creation, monthly payment, cost allocation, and upload of employee salary information to the pension system.
  • Provide feedback to inquiries from HR and employees regarding compensation and equity, including stock awards, DRS, and forfeiture letters.
  • Perform accounting related to CGMJ/CBNA, mobility accounting, including tax reserve reclassifications and director expenses.
  • Handle tax payments for expats and related income; manage provisional tax payments.
  • For equity payments, verify data before payment and coordinate with Payroll for payment and booking data.
  • Send commuting fee data to Payroll for settlement and related processes.
  • Submit EIB and obtain CEMP approval; manage employee data in pension management vendor tools.
  • Download daily workday reports and ensure processes comply with set procedures and governance; maintain accuracy, timeliness, satisfaction and NPS metrics.
  • Participate in huddles and team meetings; escalate issues to managers and resolve to closure using incident reporting processes with regular stakeholder updates.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to simplify, streamline, re-engineer, automate and/or outsource processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs; promote standardized controls and continuous improvement in HR Benefits Operations.
  • Monitor customer and HR partner satisfaction and performance metrics to identify pain points and drive improvements.
  • Review and update operating manual procedures annually or as needed; meet agreed SLA for accuracy and turnaround time for benefits processes.
  • Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, protecting Citi, its clients and assets, and escalating control issues as necessary.
Qualifications & Other Aptitudes
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Specialized knowledge in monitoring, assessing, analyzing and evaluating processes and data.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in Benefit Operations including Pension, Insurance, allowances, accounting or payroll; Japan-related experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Query, Macro).
  • Working knowledge of HR systems including Workday, payroll and accounting systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to handle high-volume work and adapt to change.
  • Ability to plan and manage own time with minimal supervision; quick learner of technical and business concepts.
  • Attention to detail with strong thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and mature approach.
Language Proficiencies
  • Fluent in English and Japanese, both written and verbal.
