Fund Administration Manager

Overview Manulife Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines Fund Administration Manager role at Manulife. Accountable to the Fund Administration Team in GBS, primarily overseeing the financial reporting process. The role is responsible for providing regulatory reports for John Hancock funds in the US region, including financial statements and Tailored Shareholder reports as part of N-CSR filing. The role supports the Boston office and ensures the quality and timeliness of each requirement. Monitoring and oversight are key aspects, with involvement in designing controls to improve risk management, enhancing documentation, and assessing production processes related to the Financial Reporting team. Participation in ad hoc projects as assigned. Position Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Manage monthly production schedule and meet key targets within the 40-day initiative. Schedule and manage workflows for financial statement and tailored shareholder production. Prepare and review financial statements for John Hancock Funds including balance sheets, statements of operations, changes in net assets, cash flows, financial highlights, and notes. Assist in implementing complex accounting or regulatory developments. Coordinate and perform centralized tasks required in report preparation and audits. Identify and implement improvement opportunities and streamline end-to-end Fund Reporting processes using Alteryx. Operational Support Ensure adequate controls are in place and issues are escalated and resolved timely. Provide support and training to junior team members on knowledge, processes, and reporting requirements. Drive initiatives for planning, implementation and tracking of short-term or automation projects. Resolve critical issues in operations and monitor control efficacy to minimize risk. Support ad-hoc analyses to identify root causes of production problems and develop timely solutions. Stakeholder Management Communicate effectively with stakeholders globally (PMs, Analysts, Brokers, Finance Technology, Compliance, Risk) and establish credibility with business contacts. Identify opportunities to refine operational processes and controls. Identify and escalate service issues from customers and stakeholders. Provide timely production updates and challenges to management and the business unit. Leadership / Management Lead the team to achieve organizational goals and manage performance, development, coaching, and reviews. Maintain high engagement, lead regular business reviews, and produce dashboards and metrics on team performance, challenges, and improvements. Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements and compliance standards; improve training policies and resource utilization. Oversee production management, recruitment and onboarding, and coordination with HR, IT, and Finance. Special Projects Handle special projects requiring strong financial knowledge and analytical skills, including introduction of new services, products and processes. Required Qualifications Advanced knowledge of the mutual fund industry, including accounting for mutual funds. University degree in accounting, finance or economics; CPA, CFA, CISI or CAT passer preferred. 7+ years of progressive experience in financial services or shared services, with more than 3 years in a people manager role. Experience working with senior management; strong stakeholder management, relationship building and negotiation skills. Good understanding of end-to-end production environment and impact of changes to reporting, production schedules, and supported systems. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills. Ability to stay updated on evolving regulatory landscape and risk topics. Ability to work in ambiguous environments, adapt to change, and manage time and workload under aggressive timelines. Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across cultures. Excellent English communication skills. Proficient in FundSuite Arc and Bloomberg Terminal. Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables; VBA a plus) and MS Office suite. Ability to build a business case for process improvements (cost/benefit analysis).
