Paralegal , you'll play a vital role in supporting U.S.-based Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) legal processes under the No Surprises Act. You'll work closely with U.S. attorneys, compliance teams, and legal operations to ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and organization of case submissions, research, and documentation.

Overview

Our client is a U.S.-based legal and compliance services company specializing in Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) under the No Surprises Act and state-level surprise billing laws. They partner with providers, facilities, and legal stakeholders to streamline the dispute process and deliver transparent, timely results. Their growing offshore team plays a key role in ensuring compliance and efficiency in the IDR space.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize legal documentation for IDR cases including open negotiation notices, arbitration filings, and position statements.
  • Review and validate supporting materials (e.g., EOBs, contracts, billing records) before submission.
  • Track critical regulatory timelines to ensure timely case submission under NSA and state-level laws.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. IDR guidelines and payer requirements.
  • Submit documentation via federal and state arbitration portals.
  • Maintain internal logs of batched claims, outcomes, and final determinations using company-approved case management tools.
  • Conduct research on U.S. healthcare regulations, balance billing statutes, payer policies, and IDRE decisions.
  • Summarize findings for internal use or to support attorney-written position statements.
  • Coordinate with U.S.-based legal and operations teams via email, Slack, Zoom, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday.com).
  • Participate in scheduled team meetings across overlapping U.S. time zones.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Paralegal Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, with mandatory healthcare experience. Background in insurance or compliance environments is an advantage.
  • Prior experience supporting U.S.-based legal operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong written English and professional communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple active cases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and online legal research .
  • Comfortable working in remote systems and cloud-based document management.
  • Ability to work during partial U.S. business hours (e.g., 7am-3pm EST or 8am-5pm PST overlap).
  • Familiarity with the No Surprises Act (NSA), healthcare claims, or medical billing processes (Preferred).
  • Experience using U.S. IDR portals (e.g., CMS Federal Portal) or handling arbitration or mediation support work (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, data privacy, or regulatory documentation handling (Preferred).
