Compensation range: $1,800AUD - $3,000 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Payroll Officer to join our high-performing team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of payroll operations, ensure compliance, and contribute to shaping best practices that drive us toward a “Gold Class” standard in payroll execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing with accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain and update the Payroll & HRIS platform with precise data entry and validation.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll-related queries via email and phone.
  • Perform manual calculations and reconciliations, covering overtime, travel, allowances, superannuation, tax, and leave balances.
  • Interpret awards (with a focus on the Miscellaneous and Clerical Award) to ensure correct application of entitlements.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other business units to provide payroll support.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing current processes and implementing new best practices.
  • Handle ad-hoc payroll tasks as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience, ideally within the Australian market.
  • Strong end-to-end payroll expertise with proven knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience in award interpretation, particularly the Miscellaneous and Clerical Award.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex calculations, reconciliations, and payroll reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across the business.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing as a collaborative team player.
  • Proactive problem solver and compliance advocate with a continuous improvement mindset.
