The Assistant Controller supports the financial operations of the company by managing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and industry regulations. This role partners closely with department heads and project managers to provide financial insights that drive operational excellence and strategic decisions.

WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (8:00 PM – 5:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform the following budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning responsibilities:

    • Assist in developing and maintaining annual budgets across all divisions.

    • Collaborate with leadership to consolidate departmental budgets and forecasts.

    • Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections.

    • Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide actionable insights

  • Perform the following tasks related to financial reporting and analysis:

    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP

    • Support month- and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations

    • Perform financial analysis on revenue, margins, expenses, and profitability

    • Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts

    • Assist with audits, lender reporting, and tax compliance

  • Perform the following tasks related to job cost management and operational support:

    • Oversee accurate job cost tracking and reporting for all projects

    • Monitor budgets vs. actuals and identify discrepancies or overruns

    • Support construction and purchasing teams with cost allocations and vendor billing accuracy

    • Review and reconcile WIP schedules and revenue recognition

  • Perform the following land and development support tasks:

    • Track land acquisition, development costs, and soft costs for proper capitalization.

    • Support pro forma analysis and feasibility studies for new land deals.

    • Maintain schedules for land inventory, lot takedowns, and financing arrangements

  • Perform the following treasury-related responsibilities:

    • Initiate wire requests and monitor fraud prevention tools

    • Support daily cash balance monitoring and disbursement planning

  • Perform the following tasks related to process improvements and systems:

    • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve reporting

    • Support optimization of construction accounting systems (e.g., Sage 300 Timberline, Prism)

    • Develop and maintain internal controls and SOPs

    • Train accounting and operations teams on financial best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred

  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or real estate development

  • Public accounting experience is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific accounting principles

  • Proficiency with accounting software; Sage Timberline/ERP systems experience a plus

  • Advanced Excel and strong data analysis skills

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
