Your Role

To manage the preparation and execution of customs clearance declarations created by the customs brokers on behalf of internal stakeholders within the Kuehne + Nagel network. The Team Lead should ensure that the declarations are compliant and in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures agreed, and also adhere to all government regulatory requirements.

Your Responsibilities
  • Manage the preparation and execution of import and export declarations according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures within the stakeholder country
  • Organize and delegate the workflow and tasks to the team in alignment with the departmental and stakeholder requirements and goals
  • Manage and review reports to track team and departmental performance
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding productivity and quality performance and resolve challenges efficiently and effectively
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership for resolution of enquiries and complaints from stakeholders
  • Perform daily quality checks to ensure a high level of work quality and productivity
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development
  • Assist in the training of new hires and ad-hoc system or customs topics where needed
  • Understand new tasks and functions that are introduced and ensure instructions are understood by the team
  • Engage in daily stand-up/stand-down meetings with the team
  • Develop and implement new systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with support functions for continuous improvement
Your Skills and Experiences
  • Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration
  • With at least 3 years of managerial experience in a similar position
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English — both verbal and written
  • Task-oriented and detail-focused
  • Driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to work with demanding deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Preferable to have operational knowledge of either airfreight, sea freight or road freight
