Staff RF DSP Engineer

Overview The Staff RF Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer is responsible for developing Soft IP products for RF signal processing applications. This role requires deep expertise in RF systems and DSP design, with a focus on creating efficient, high-performance, and scalable Soft IP for integration into custom FPGA/ASIC solutions. As a staff engineer, the role may include IP product research and development, process development and improvement, resource planning, team development, project leadership, and client communication. Key Responsibilities Establish and improve systems and processes related to RF/DSP development Collaborate with system architects to ensure seamless integration of designed IPs into an existing RF system Perform RF modeling and simulation to conduct performance analysis and inform design architecture; assess integrated system performance relative to specifications Design and implement Soft IP for RF systems, including direct digital converters, sample rate converters, modulators, filters, and signal conditioners Create thorough design documents, including specifications, features, microarchitecture, timing diagrams, integration guidelines, and test plans Optimize IPs for area, power, throughput, latency, and signal integrity Integrate and test Soft IPs into FPGA or ASIC platforms Project management Coach junior engineers Work with Design Verification engineers to ensure IP accuracy and reliability Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver on-time, high-quality designs Keep up to date with RF, DSP, and FPGA/ASIC technologies to incorporate cutting-edge techniques Review output of junior team members to ensure design quality Provide support to customers Key Qualifications Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field At least 10 years of relevant industry experience in RF and DSP systems design RF DSP Design & Methodology Strong background in mathematics and physics, especially electromagnetics Strong foundation in RF Front End (e.g., LNA, Filters, PA, LO) and RF Back End (e.g., DSP, baseband processors) Expert in RF systems design concepts such as frequency translation, modulation, and filtering Expert in signal processing techniques used in RF communication (quadrature mixers, I/Q demodulation, digital filtering) Experience developing methods based on digital signal processing and statistical processing to extract features from RF data, identify signals, and mitigate interference and errors Experience with integrating Soft IPs into FPGA or ASIC Knowledge of signal integrity, noise performance, and system-level trade-offs in RF systems Industry experience with RF communications protocols (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi) is a plus EDA Tools Expert in MATLAB, Cadence, and Synopsys EDA Experience with FPGA development environments such as Xilinx Vivado and Intel Quartus, including tools for hardware simulation and debugging Language & Methodology Proficiency with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog Nice to have Ability to standardize and improve development processes Excellent communication and presentation skills in English Aggressive in learning, strong problem solving, decision-making and troubleshooting skills Ability to work across multiple sites Ability to plan and organize project activities Ability to lead a team of design engineers Ability to coach junior engineers Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Sales, General Business, and Education Industries: Wireless Services, Telecommunications, and Communications Equipment Manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
