Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA qualification is a plus). 3–4 years of AU accounting experience, ideally in a small to medium business environment. Strong background in financial and management accounting. Proficiency in Xero or similar accounting systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. High level of attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in the insurance industry or working with compliance and legal obligations is an advantage. Job Responsibilities Team Supervision Supervise 1 bookkeeping/administration staff member. Oversight of Admin/Bookkeeper Activities including accounting, bookkeeping, payroll & data entry. Oversee data entry of bills and invoices, enter and maintain month end journals. Provide ad-hoc backfill of these tasks from time to time. Oversee employee onboarding and monthly payroll. Submit bank payments for approval (suppliers and payroll). Reconcile bank transactions. When required, provide ad-hoc backfill cover of accounting tasks for the subsidiaries. Management Reporting Take ownership of the company’s management reporting by learning existing reports/processes, preparing, reviewing,finalising and presenting to the General Manager. Prepare and review portfolio financial statements for submission to senior management of portfolio companies. Identify and implement process and quality improvements where applicable. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the holding company and its subsidiaries. Process handover, ownership, and improvement. Initial handover of processes from existing staff, including accompanying documentation where appropriate. Challenge the status-quo, question, suggest, and implement improvements to the processes. Own and run ongoing processes. Accounting Management of accounts receivable and premium funding function. Undertake the payroll, invoicing and accounts payable functions. Prepare management reports and monitor performance against budgets within agreed timeframes. Provide analysis of financial data. Assist with the development of strategic plans in relation to financial plans and data. Ensure the integrity of all financial data. Cashflow management. Prepare of information for Fringe Benefits Tax purposes. Assist tax agents with preparation of end of year tax planning, financial statements and tax returns. Prepare and lodgment of monthly and quarterly business activity statements. Prepare and lodge payroll tax and stamp duty. Complete balance sheet reconciliations. Investigate and resolve issues with financial data. Assist with internal and external audits. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. General Ensure business functions are conducted in accordance with Company guidelines and procedures.
