Gallery Manager: Exhibitions and Inventory

The Gallery Manager for Exhibitions and Inventory manages and coordinates all aspects of the exhibition building and is responsible for the gallery's inventory for exhibitions, art fairs, and all other consignments. He/she will also be the artist liaison for a select group of artists and will oversee a team of 4-6 persons at any given time, including assistants and art handlers.

EXHIBITIONS COORDINATION

1. Exhibition coordination with Directors

Prepare schedules and make sure deadlines are met by artists Studio visits, artwork pick up from the studio Coordinate installation and de-installation of exhibits with art handlers 2. Gallery preparation with Director Implement exhibition design including framing/pedestals, wall texts, room lists, price lists, preparing library materialsCheck website/catalog for complete content and on-time publishing 3. Related gallery events production and coordination with Media Manager 4. Art Fairs Actively communicate deadlines to both colleagues/teams as well as fair staff/organizers Oversee coordination of art fair-related construction and space planning. Instruct the gallery assistants/purchasing officer to prepare lists of equipment and place orders for all art fair-related materials. DOCUMENTS/REPORTS AND INVENTORY UPDATE
  1. Responsible for the upkeep of the gallery's collections management database (physical inventory & GM database)
  2. Identify works from the gallery collection that are in need of conservation
  3. Prepare and maintain contracts/consignment agreements for all fairs, temporary, permanent, and traveling exhibitions.
  4. Prepare exhibition reports for approval of the director and submission to artists ARTIST LIAISON 1. Coordinate artist needs, including studio and logistics 2. Request art on consignment from artists for backroom 3. Monitor artist updates calendar 4. Monitor consignments and renew/return schedule with Logistics assistant

  7. Supervise art handlers, and maintain safe art handling protocols.
  8. Meet and greet visitors, as needed Requirements:
  9. Bachelor's degree in art history, arts management, or a related field
  10. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within an art gallery or museum
  11. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  12. Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
  13. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  14. Proficiency in Artlogic or similar collections management software, Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Adobe
  15. Knowledge of art conservation and art handling practices
  16. Familiarity with exhibition coordination and related equipment/materials
  17. A passion for the arts and a willingness to stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
