PURPOSE

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven President to lead our company. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership qualities, extensive knowledge of maritime operations, and a proven track record of driving business growth and operational excellence. As the President, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, driving performance, and ensuring the continued success of our maritime logistics business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and articulate a compelling vision and strategic direction for the maritime logistics division, aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic plans, initiatives, and business expansion opportunities to drive growth, profitability, and market leadership.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and competitive advantage.

Fleet Management:

  • Oversee the management, deployment, and optimization of our fleet of maritime vessels, ensuring efficient operations, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize vessel utilization, minimize downtime, and enhance overall fleet performance.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify opportunities for fleet expansion, modernization, and optimization.

Operational Excellence:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of maritime professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Implement best practices, standard operating procedures, and quality management systems to ensure consistent service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Business Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, industry stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to drive business development initiatives and expand market presence.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and revenue streams to diversify our service offerings and enhance profitability.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive landscape, and customer feedback to inform strategic decision-making and prioritize resource allocation.

Executive Management:

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the executive management team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective execution of business strategies.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop key talent within the organization, fostering a high-performance culture and succession planning for future leadership roles.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, excellence, and integrity, promoting ethical behavior, diversity, and inclusion throughout the organization.

Financial Performance and Management:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of annual budgets, financial plans, and performance metrics for the maritime logistics division.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key performance indicators, and implement strategies to optimize revenue, profitability, and cost efficiency including ensuring the achievement of predetermined financial targets and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost optimization through market analysis, customer segmentation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including clients, partners, suppliers, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and government officials.
  • Represent the company in external forums, conferences, and industry events, advocating for the interests of the organization and promoting our brand and reputation.
  • Proactively address stakeholder concerns, issues, and feedback, demonstrating responsiveness, transparency, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, industry standards, and corporate policies governing maritime operations, safety, and environmental stewardship.
  • Implement robust risk management processes, controls, and contingency plans to mitigate operational, financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Promote a culture of safety, environmental sustainability, and corporate responsibility throughout the organization, driving awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in maritime studies, logistics, business administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in maritime logistics, with a proven track record of success in executive management roles.
  • With a proven track record of managing a significant fleet of vessels (i.e. not less than 15 vessels).

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of maritime operations, vessel management, port logistics, and supply chain management.

Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate and respond to changing market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive pressures.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive business growth, profitability, and operational excellence in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Sound understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental practices in the maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant software applications for strategic planning, financial analysis, and performance management.
