Drake's top client – an IT company is hiring an Associate Vice President (AVP), Data Privacy Officer to be part of their collaborative team in Makati City.


Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Associate Vice President, Data Privacy Officer to lead our data privacy program.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in data privacy, with a proven track record of managing teams and developing and implementing comprehensive data privacy and compliance strategies from the ground up.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data protection policies and procedures in alignment with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
  • Conduct data protection impact assessments to identify and mitigate privacy risks associated with processing personal data.
  • Monitor compliance with data protection laws, organizational policies, and data processing agreements.
  • Serve as the point of contact for data subjects regarding all issues related to their personal data and its processing.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure that technical and organizational measures for data protection are in place and effective.
  • Provide training and awareness programs for staff to promote a culture of data privacy throughout the organization.
  • Manage data subject requests, such as access, rectification, erasure, or data portability, in a timely manner.
  • Advise on and monitor data processing operations and data transfers to third countries or international organizations.
  • Report to top management on data protection issues, risks, and the effectiveness of the data protection program.
  • Act as a liaison to the supervisory authority and cooperate with regulatory bodies as required.
  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in data protection laws and practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Handle data breaches and incidents, including notification to supervisory authorities and data subjects where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Technology, or related field. A Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data privacy and protection.
  • Experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Strong understanding of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence at all levels within the organization.
