Job Summary:

The Environmental Specialist (EIA Preparer) is responsible for preparing and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and related technical studies in compliance with national and local environmental regulations. The role involves data gathering, analysis, stakeholder coordination, and documentation to support project development while ensuring environmental sustainability and legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and Draft EIAs: Develop comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment reports, including baseline studies, impact analyses, and mitigation measures in accordance with regulatory standards (e.g., DENR-EMB in the Philippines).

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather, analyze, and interpret environmental data related to air, water, soil, noise, biodiversity, and socio-economic aspects of project areas.

  • Site Visits and Fieldwork: Conduct site inspections and field surveys to assess environmental conditions and gather data for EIA documentation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with regulatory bodies, consultants, local government units, and affected communities to facilitate public consultations and gather input.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all environmental documents and activities align with environmental laws, rules, and policies.

  • Environmental Planning Support: Assist in integrating environmental safeguards into project planning and design.

  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports and documents to relevant agencies and project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or related field.

  • At least 2–3 years of experience in preparing EIAs or working on environmental compliance.

  • Familiarity with the EIA process, particularly under [insert country-specific regulations, e.g., Philippine EIS System].

  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and environmental management systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; GIS and data analysis tools are an advantage.

  • Fieldwork experience and willingness to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Environmental Planner or related professional certification (if applicable).

  • Experience working with government agencies or consultancy firms in environmental assessments.
