logistics & distribution supervisor

Job Summary

The Logistics & Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily logistics and warehouse operations to ensure the efficient and timely flow of goods across the organization. This role is critical in supporting the operational needs of both the bakery and restaurant businesses by ensuring inventory accuracy, timely deliveries, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The Logistics Supervisor also plays a key leadership role by managing personnel, monitoring team performance, and driving process improvements across logistics and warehouse functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Logistics Operations

1. Supervises day-to-day logistics activities, including transportation, order processing, routing, and delivery scheduling.
2. Coordinates closely with store branches, production units, and purchasing to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries.
3. Oversees the preparation and processing of approved sales orders, delivery receipts, and related logistics documentation.
4. Monitors delivery performance, lead time, vehicle usage, and driver efficiency; implement corrective actions as needed.
5. Tracks and reports on key logistics metrics (e.g., on-time delivery rate, order accuracy, fuel efficiency) to support data-driven decision-making.
6. Liaises with third-party transport providers when necessary and ensure service level agreements are met.

Warehouse Management

1. Oversees warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching of goods.
2. Enforces proper inventory practices, including First-In, First-Out (FIFO), to maintain product quality and freshness.
3. Conducts periodic stock audits and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
4. Optimizes warehouse layout and processes to improve space utilization and operational efficiency.
5. Ensures that all goods movements are accurately recorded in the inventory system and properly documented.
6. Maintains warehouse cleanliness and compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.

People Management & Team Leadership:

1. Leads and supervises logistics and warehouse staff, including drivers, helpers, warehouse assistants, and clerks.
2. Assigns tasks, monitor work progress, and ensure that individual and team performance targets are met.
3. Provides coaching, training, and mentorship to team members to enhance skills and job performance.
4. Conducts regular team meetings and performance evaluations; manage attendance, discipline, and shift schedules.
5. Fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the department.

Process Improvement & Compliance:

1. Identifies bottlenecks in logistics and warehouse processes and recommends solutions for efficiency gains.
2. Ensures compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
3. Assist in developing and updating logistics and warehouse protocols to improve operations and customer service.

Other Duties:

1. Collaborate with other departments (Procurement, Sales, Finance, Production) to ensure alignment and smooth workflows.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Industrial Technology, Supply Chain, or other related fields.
2. At least 5 years of experience in logistics or warehouse supervision, preferably in the food service or manufacturing industry.
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to delegate tasks, manage teams, and coordinate administrative functions.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and email communication. Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems is an advantage.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
6. Able to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
