About the Role

This role is responsible for preparing accurate estimates and quotations for corrective works related to fire detection and alarm systems. You will review inspection and testing reports submitted by field technicians, translate technical findings into clear scopes of work, and ensure all estimates meet Australian standards and client requirements. You will work closely with technicians, operations, and internal teams to support compliant and well-structured quotations.

What You'll Be Doing
Estimate & Quotation Preparation
  • Review fire system defect reports recorded by technicians.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for identified corrective works.
  • Develop clear scopes of work based on inspection and maintenance findings.
  • Include labor, materials, access requirements, testing, and commissioning in estimates.
  • Ensure quotations are easy to understand and ready for client or internal review.
Technical Review & Compliance
  • Interpret inspection and testing data for fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Ensure all proposed works comply with Australian Standards and project requirements.
  • Apply technical knowledge of conventional and addressable fire systems.
  • Review specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and compliance obligations before finalizing estimates.
System & Data Management
  • Create and manage quotations using the Uptick system or similar platforms.
  • Link estimates correctly to defects, assets, and site records.
  • Maintain accurate pricing based on approved rates and materials.
  • Ensure all data entries are complete and aligned with reporting requirements.
Coordination & Support
  • Work closely with field technicians to clarify defect details when required.
  • Coordinate with operations and accounts teams regarding scope and pricing concerns.
  • Respond to internal queries related to estimates, scope details, or compliance.
  • Provide feedback to help improve the quality of defect reporting.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Review completed works against previous estimates to improve future accuracy.
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Keep updated with changes in fire system standards, procedures, and best practices.
What We're Looking For
  • Knowledge or experience with fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with Australian fire standards (e.g., AS 1851) is an advantage.
  • Experience preparing technical estimates, quotations, or scopes of work.
  • Comfortable using digital systems for reporting and estimation.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
