Facilities Technician

The Facilities Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the upkeep, safety, and operational efficiency of the company's physical workspace. This position is responsible for performing general maintenance and minor repairs, supporting HVAC troubleshooting, and assisting in preventive maintenance activities. The role also involves responding promptly to emergency repair requests, managing maintenance tools and equipment, and supporting day-to-day facilities operations. The Facilities Technician works closely with the Facilities Supervisor and coordinates with external contractors to ensure timely resolution of technical issues and adherence to safety and energy-saving practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. General Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform routine facility inspections to proactively identify and address maintenance issues.
• Carry out minor repairs on office furniture, fixtures, doors, chairs, desks, and lighting components.
• Respond to basic plumbing concerns, including leaks, clogs, and minor pipe fittings.
• Execute basic electrical tasks such as replacing light bulbs, resetting circuit breakers, and testing outlets.
• Troubleshoot air conditioning concerns and coordinate with service providers for repairs and maintenance when necessary.

2. Preventive Maintenance

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of all preventive maintenance (PM) activities, in
• accordance with the facility's maintenance schedule.
• Identify and report worn-out or faulty parts that require replacement or major repair to prevent equipment failure or downtime.

3. Emergency Response

• Respond promptly and effectively to urgent maintenance issues such as water leaks, power outages, equipment overheating, and other facility-related emergencies to minimize disruptionand ensure safety.

4. Equipment and Tools Management

• Monitor, maintain, and secure all maintenance tools, equipment, and consumable supplies to ensure availability and prevent loss or misuse.
• Regularly inspect tools and equipment to confirm they are safe and in good working condition; promptly report any damage, malfunction, or loss to the Facilities Supervisor.

5. Support to Facilities Operations

• Assist in setting up, rearranging, or relocating office furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
• Support energy conservation initiatives by ensuring adherence to practices such as turning off unused lights and equipment.
• Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment based on the established maintenance schedule to ensure functionality and safety.

6. Coordinating and Reporting

• Communicate daily updates, maintenance activities, and any incidents or issues to the Facilities
• Supervisor to ensure transparency and timely resolution.
• Assist and monitor external contractors and service providers while they perform technical work on-site, ensuring compliance with safety, security, and facility protocols.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Electrical Troubleshooting

• Replace light fixtures, sockets, breakers, and wiring repairs
• Basic load management and electrical safety awareness

2. Air Conditioning Support (HVAC)

• Basic cleaning, filter replacement, drainage unclogging
• Ability to assist or supervise contractors for repairs

3. Plumbing

• Fix leaks, clogged drains, toilet flushes, and faucets

• Carpentry / General Handyman Work

• Repair furniture, hinges, door locks, and others

• Light patching and painting

5. Preventive Maintenance

• Following checklists, daily inspections, and PM logs

6. Tools Handling

• Proper use and maintenance of power tools, hand tools and other equipment necessary for
• maintenance tasks
• Ensure safe handling and storage of tools and equipment; observe safety precautions at all times

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

• Completion of a TESDA-accredited vocational or technical course in Refrigeration and
• Airconditioning Servicing (RAC Servicing NC II) is an advantage.
