About Us

The Evergreen Fund is a nonprofit organization providing evidence-based treatment for mental health and substance use disorders in Los Angeles. We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our finance team remotely from the Philippines.

Position Summary

The Controller oversees all accounting, billing, and financial operations in accordance with U.S. GAAP and nonprofit best practices. The role reports directly to the CEO and collaborates with our billing company and clinical team to manage revenue cycle operations, including verification of benefits, claim submission, and collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting functions: chart of accounts, AP/AR, payroll, cash flow, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee health insurance billing, payer requirements, EOBs, and collections.
  • Coordinate with third-party billing partners to ensure timely claim submission and reconciliation.
  • Maintain financial records in QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace.
  • Monitor budgets, improve workflows, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls.

Required Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controller or Senior Accountant.
  • Must demonstrate 5-7 years of Controller-level experience in financial operations management.
  • Minimum 3 years of U.S. healthcare revenue cycle management experience.
  • Must possess 3-5 years of comprehensive revenue cycle management experience including claims processing and collections.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
  • Intermediate application level expertise in U.S. GAAP principles and implementation required.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, and EHR/EMR systems.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required.

  • Understanding of nonprofit financial operations.
  • Comfortable with using AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, Others)
