Role Overview

The
ERP Release Manager
plays a critical role in orchestrating and managing the end-to-end release lifecycle across all SAP environments, including
ECC and S/4 HANA
. This role ensures seamless coordination and execution of releases supporting ongoing operations, enhancements, upgrades, and migration initiatives.

You will act as the central point of coordination across cross-functional teams—support, development, QA, infrastructure, and business stakeholders—to deliver high-quality, well-governed SAP releases with minimal business disruption.

Reporting Line:
ERP Program & Operations / ERP Enabling / ERP Shared Services

Key Partners:
BASIS, SAP Functional Teams, Development, Testing/QA, Security & Compliance, Change Management (ITIL), PMO, Implementation Teams, Business Stakeholders, Vendors/AMS

Key Responsibilities

  • Release Planning & Scheduling:
    Define, document, and communicate release plans across all SAP instances, balancing support, enhancements, and migration activities.
  • Release Coordination:
    Act as the central point of contact for all SAP release-related activities.
  • Change Management:
    Ensure all changes are documented, risk-assessed, and approved in line with governance standards.
  • Deployment Management:
    Coordinate deployments across multiple SAP environments (ECC & S/4 HANA) with minimal operational impact.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Partner with QA teams to ensure comprehensive testing (regression, integration, UAT).
  • Risk & Issue Management:
    Identify, mitigate, and escalate release-related risks and issues.
  • Documentation & Communication:
    Maintain release notes, deployment guides, rollback plans, and post-release reports.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Drive process improvements, best practices, and automation initiatives.
  • Compliance & Audit Support:
    Ensure adherence to internal policies and audit requirements.
  • Migration Support:
    Coordinate SAP ECC to S/4 HANA migration-related releases aligned with program timelines.

Key Activities

  • Develop and manage SAP release calendars
  • Facilitate release planning and stakeholder alignment sessions
  • Track milestones and release progress
  • Coordinate pre- and post-deployment activities
  • Lead post-release reviews and lessons learned
  • Maintain centralized release documentation
  • Support communications for planned/unplanned outages
  • Collaborate closely with S/4 HANA migration teams

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
  • Proven experience managing releases in large-scale ERP environments (SAP ECC/S/4 HANA preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of release, change, and deployment management
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse teams
  • Experience with
    ITIL, Agile
    , or similar methodologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools such as
    SAP Solution Manager, Jira
    , or similar platforms
