Job Summary

The Sourcing and Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely procurement, planning, and availability of raw materials, supplies, and components required for production. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, monitoring inventory levels, analyzing material requirements, and optimizing sourcing strategies to support uninterrupted operations and cost efficiency.


Key Responsibilities
Material Planning
  • Develop and maintain Material Requirements Planning (MRP) based on production schedules, forecasts, and inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
  • Create purchase requisitions and ensure accurate planning of materials.
  • Review and adjust planning parameters, lead times, and safety stock levels regularly.
  • Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure materials are delivered on time.
Sourcing & Procurement
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and delivery performance.
  • Negotiate prices, contracts, and terms to secure the best value for the company.
  • Issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to avoid delays.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance.
  • Source alternative materials or vendors when necessary.
Inventory & Data Management
  • Track material usage and update inventory records accurately.
  • Analyze material variances and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Create and maintain reports on inventory status, supplier delivery performance, and purchasing trends.
  • Ensure data accuracy in ERP/MRP systems.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, engineering, finance, and quality teams to ensure material readiness.
  • Participate in meetings related to production planning, new product introduction, and process improvements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 1–3 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or procurement (manufacturing industry is an advantage).
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and other planning tools.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities.
