Junior Accountant

Role Summary

Support day-to-day accounting, AR/AP, reconciliations, closings, and reporting—while keeping the company compliant with Philippine taxation laws and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting

• Post and process journal entries in the General Ledger and accounting software.
• Maintain Accounts Receivable (invoicing, collections, SOA) and perform AR reconciliations
• Maintain Accounts Payable (vouchers, 3-way match, payment runs) and perform AP reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing balance sheet, income statement, and other internal reports per company policy and accounting standards.
• Review expense, petty cash, and payroll supporting documents for accuracy and policy compliance.
• Update financial data and supporting schedules to keep information complete, accurate, and accessible.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly dashboards (cash position, AR aging, AP aging, expense summaries).
• Assist/oversee monthly/quarterly/year-end closings (accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, inventory roll-forward).

Tax & Statutory Compliance (Philippines)

• Manage all scheduled tax filings with BIR and relevant agencies (monthly/quarterly/annual as applicable).
• Maintain a compliance calendar (BIR, SEC/DTI, LGU permits, and SSS/PhilHealth/Pag-IBIG remittances) and ensure on-time filing/payment.
• Keep current with PH tax updates (BIR issuances, revenue regulations, deadlines, eFPS/eBIRForms changes); summarize changes and propose process updates.
• Prepare working papers for VAT/percentage tax, withholding taxes, income tax, registration/renewals, and submit with complete documentation.
• Coordinate with internal approvers, external auditors/consultants, and BIR/LGU officers as needed.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready files (digital/physical) for all returns, proofs of filing, and payment confirmations.

Controls & Support

• Enforce document control (official receipts, sales invoices, BIR-registered books, serials).
• Support annual audit (sample pulls, confirmations, variance analyses).
• Recommend process improvements to shorten close timelines and reduce errors.

Qualifications

• BS Accountancy/Accounting/Finance (1 to 2 years experience welcome).
• Solid grasp of basic accounting, AR/AP, and reconciliations.
• Familiar with the Philippine tax environment (BIR returns, deadlines) or willing to learn fast.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with any accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, NetSuite) is a plus.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven; discreet with confidential data.

Tools You'll Use

• Accounting software (Xero), Excel/Sheets, eBIRForms/eFPS, online banking, document management (Drive/SharePoint).

Success Metrics (KPIs)

• On-time filings/remittances: 100% on or before due dates.
• Reconciliation accuracy: ≤1% variance unresolved beyond 10 business days.
• Close timeline: Monthly close completed within agreed period.
• Documentation completeness: 100% filings with proofs and working papers.
