Job Title: Database Administrator (SQL/MySQL)

Job Purpose:
The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. This role involves monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, and collaborating with development teams to design and optimize database structures. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of SQL or MySQL databases and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL/MySQL databases in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning measures to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Perform regular database backups and establish disaster recovery plans to protect data integrity.
  • Conduct database security assessments and implement necessary measures to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Design and implement database structures, procedures, and optimizations based on business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including connectivity problems and query performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to develop and enhance database applications and services.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and processes for standardization and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in database management and administration.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input on database-related planning and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with expertise in SQL and/or MySQL, with a significant focus on managing enterprise-level databases.
  • Proficiency in database design, performance tuning, and implementation of security measures.
  • Experience in SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, views and query tuning
  • Experience with backup and recovery strategies, as well as disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and database management tasks is a plus.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications related to database management are a plus.
