JOB SUMMARY

The CAD Team Member is responsible for producing accurate and timely 3D CAD models and detailed 2D shop drawings using SolidWorks to support custom design, quoting, and manufacturing requirements. This role plays a key part in delivering customer-specific designs, particularly in sheet metal and weldment components, while ensuring drawings meet quality standards, Australian client expectations, and tight turnaround timelines.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
CAD Design & Drafting

• Create and modify 3D CAD drawings and designs using SolidWorks.
• Produce detailed 2D shop drawings for manufacturing and fabrication.
• Develop custom designs based on customer requirements, often within short notice for quoting purposes.
• Prepare drawings that clearly communicate dimensions, materials, and specifications.

Sheet Metal & Weldments

• Apply SolidWorks sheet metal tools to create accurate and manufacturable designs.
• Develop weldment structures and assemblies in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with fabrication standards.

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with internal teams to clarify design requirements and timelines.
• Support quoting and sales processes by providing fast and accurate design outputs.
• Revise and update drawings based on feedback or design changes.

Quality & Efficiency

• Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal standards.
• Maintain organized drawing files and version control.
• Meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience using SolidWorks.
• Strong experience in 3D CAD drawing and design.
• Proven ability to create detailed 2D shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of sheet metal and weldments in SolidWorks.
• Experience creating custom designs under tight timelines for customer quoting.
• Australian (AU) drafting or industry experience is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Proficient in SolidWorks.
• Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements.
