JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring that our solar energy systems operate at peak efficiency, delivering consistent, clean, and sustainable power to our clients and communities. Responsible for leading operational planning, troubleshooting complex issues, and mentor the engineering team, combining technical expertise with leadership to keep our plants running smoothly and profitably.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Plant Operations Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of solar power plants to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Analyze operational data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to improve output and efficiency.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Lead the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs and minimal energy generation loss.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization

  • Use monitoring systems to track energy generation, detect anomalies, and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Implement performance improvement strategies to maximize plant yield.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and skills development within the operations team.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Collaborate with project, engineering, and commercial teams to align operational goals with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors for spare parts, services, and technical support.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare detailed performance reports, maintenance logs, and incident records.
  • Recommend technical upgrades and process improvements to management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • System Reliability: Maintain high uptime and performance ratio targets for solar plants.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure zero tolerance for safety violations and foster a safe working culture.
  • Operational Efficiency: Reduce downtime and operational costs without compromising quality.
  • Team Development: Enhance the technical capabilities and morale of the operations team.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all legal, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Data Accuracy: Maintain precise and up-to-date operational records and reports.
  • Reports complete, accurate, and submitted on time

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND / WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Renewable Energy Engineering (Master's degree is an advantage).
  • Licensed Electrical Engineer (REE) is preferred but not required
  • 2-4 years of experience in solar plant operations, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and using project management tools.
  • Strong understanding of O&M best practices and electrical safety standards.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, performance analysis tools, and grid compliance requirements.
  • Willingness to travel to plant sites and work in varying field conditions.
