JOB DESCRIPTION

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing Transactions: Using a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to scan items, calculate costs, and process payments.
  • Handling Payments: Accepting cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and other forms of payment, providing change, and issuing receipts.
  • Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering questions, providing assistance, and resolving customer issues or complaints.
  • Maintaining Checkout Area: Ensuring the checkout area is clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Cash Handling: Balancing the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts, accurately handling cash transactions, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Product Handling: Bagging or packaging purchased items, processing returns and exchanges, and potentially handling coupons and discounts.
  • Following Procedures: Adhering to store policies and procedures, including those related to security, age-restricted items, and returns.
