Job Summary

The Sanitation Manager oversees all sanitation operations within the food manufacturing facility to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety. This role manages the sanitation team, develops cleaning programs, verifies adherence to GMP and regulatory requirements, and coordinates deep-cleaning activities. The Sanitation Manager works closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance to prevent contamination risks, maintain audit readiness, and support continuous improvement in sanitation processes. This leadership role ensures that sanitation procedures are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the sanitation team, including scheduling and training.
  • Develop and implement sanitation procedures, SSOPs, and cleaning schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Inspect and verify cleanliness of production lines, tools, and facilities.
  • Coordinate shutdown cleaning, deep-cleaning, and preventive sanitation activities.
  • Manage sanitation chemicals, equipment, and inventory.
  • Partner with QA and Production to address sanitation issues promptly.
  • Prepare documentation and reports for audits and inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper PPE usage.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sanitation practices and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Microbiology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sanitation within food manufacturing; supervisory experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SSOPs, and regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with sanitation equipment, chemicals, and food plant hygiene requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle fast-paced operations.
  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including nights or shutdown periods.
