Official role title: Variations Underwriter
We are seeking an experienced Variations Underwriter to join our AU mortgage team. This role plays a critical part in managing and assessing loan variation requests from existing customers, ensuring decisions are made within credit policy and lending authority.
About the Role:
As a Variations Underwriter, you'll review and assess existing customer requests such as loan top-ups, interest-only conversions, and partial discharges. You'll ensure all decisions comply with credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and service level agreements.
You'll also handle customer queries, recommend applications outside your lending authority when needed, and help improve processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, and a solid understanding of the Australian non-bank mortgage space.

What You'll Be Doing
- Assess and decision loan variation requests
Evaluate customer-initiated changes such as loan top-ups, interest-only conversions, and partial discharges in line with credit policy and delegated lending authority. - Ensure compliance with lending guidelines and service standards
Process variations consistently and on time, adhering to Resimac's Credit Risk Management Policy, underwriting guidelines, and key performance indicators. - Make credit decisions or recommendations
Approve or decline applications within authority; escalate and recommend decisions with conditions for those outside authority limits. - Resolve customer queries related to loan variations
Act as the primary point of contact for customer issues and ensure a high level of service and satisfaction. - Contribute to process improvement initiatives
Identify inefficiencies within the variations process and work with relevant teams to implement enhancements.
About You
Required
- Experienced in assessing and decisioning loan variation requests within credit policy and delegated authority
- Able to manage customer queries professionally and deliver high levels of service
- Comfortable working under pressure to meet turnaround times and service standards
- Proactive in identifying process improvement opportunities and collaborating with teams to implement solutions
Desirable
- Strong understanding of the Australian mortgage process, especially in the non-bank sector
