Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Administrative Assistant with underwriting experience to support our commercial lines operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with commercial property and liability as well as commercial automobile insurance. This role will provide critical administrative and underwriting support to ensure the smooth handling of client accounts, policy documentation, and risk assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to the underwriting team for commercial property, liability, and automobile accounts.
- Review and prepare insurance applications, endorsements, and renewals for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in underwriting processes by gathering risk information, loss runs, financials, and other required documentation.
- Enter, maintain, and update client and policy information in agency management systems.
- Coordinate with brokers, agents, and clients to obtain missing documentation or clarify details.
- Prepare quotes, binders, certificates of insurance, and policy documents in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
- Track policy expirations and support renewal processing to ensure timely submissions.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and underwriting standards.
- Support the team with reporting, filing, and maintaining organized documentation for audits and internal reviews.
- Assist underwriters in analyzing risks and making recommendations within delegated authority.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an administrative assistant in an insurance or underwriting environment.
- Knowledge of commercial property, general liability, and commercial automobile insurance.
- Familiarity with underwriting principles, rating tools, and policy forms.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and insurance agency management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred
- Experience working with carriers and brokers in commercial lines.
- Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, AINS) are a plus.
Work from Home Requirements (Must have before the start date)
- Internet Connection : Min of 30 mbps wired internet connection speed AND a backup internet connection (before start date)
- Computer/Laptop: The contractor must have a working computer with updated current programmes from home with Dual Monitors
- Noise Canceling Headset (Plantronics)
- Dedicated Home Office - Contractors are required to have a dedicated home office free from noise and distractions.
- Must be comfortable working with a Monitoring Software (for payroll and timekeeping purposes only)
- Webcam - Contractors must have a working webcam
