Investment Officer

The Investment Officer is responsible for managing the investment portfolios and liquidity requirements of schools. The role involves coordinating and negotiating with financial institutions, monitoring and analyzing investments, preparing documentary and legal requirements, and providing informed portfolio management recommendations aligned with approved investment policies, risk tolerance, and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Portfolio Management

  • Monitor schools' investments to ensure compliance with IC-approved investment policies and guidelines
  • Negotiate with financial institutions regarding money market placements and investment terms
  • Manage liquidity requirements of assigned schools
  • Respond to investment-related inquiries and resolve issues from schools
  • Provide regular updates to schools on investment performance and portfolio details
  • Conduct financial market research and analysis using proprietary and external resources to support portfolio management recommendations
  • Coordinate and consult with external fund managers on investment strategies, performance, and market developments
  • Select appropriate investment instruments, including computation of projected bond yields and return expectations, in line with investment objectives, risk tolerance, and guidelines
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Management Committee (IMC) and Investment Committee (IC)
  • Review and analyze financial statements of assigned schools and external fund managers
  • Assess credit risk, evaluate portfolio performance against benchmarks, and ensure compliance with investment parameters
  • Prepare investment reports and presentations for assigned schools, including Board of Trustees (BOT) presentations when required
  • Conduct client visits for investment education, relationship management, and servicing

Administrative & Compliance Support

  • Assist in the setup and preparation of investment agreements among the schools, financial institutions, and external fund managers
  • Prepare and complete all documentary and legal requirements for investment transactions
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all transaction documentation
  • Coordinate with legal counsel and corporate secretaries of schools on investment-related documentation and compliance matters
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Experience in investments, treasury, portfolio management, or financial analysis preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment instruments, and risk management
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple portfolios
