What you'll be doing

  • Implementing and monitoring comprehensive safety programs to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards
  • Conducting regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Providing training and guidance to employees on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment
  • Investigating and reporting on incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Serving as the Pollution Control Officer (PCO) for the organization, overseeing the management of waste, emissions, and other environmental impacts
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative safety solutions
  • Maintaining detailed records and preparing reports to communicate safety performance and compliance

What we're looking for

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role within the construction, mining, resources, or energy industry
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing successful safety and environmental programs
  • Strong knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as best practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach

Certification as a Pollution Control Officer (PCO) is highly desirable
